Time and Baseball

Even when you have 26 outs in baseball, there is the opportunity to win entirely or lose entirely. Not until that last out, is all hope lost for the trailing team. Not until that 27th out can a winner be named. There is no time . My team can be down by 10 runs, 15 even, for the majority of the contest, and at the "final hour" (there is no final hour in baseball!) a mounting conquest for a comeback can begin. A team can be up by one run, but its never official until the last out is recorded. It's never over until the fat lady sings. The loss, the sense of shame or embarrassment felt during a particular point during a game is turned into something on the last play that can be elation, celebration, or redemption.
